Financial Management for Business
The FMFB course is a unique way of mastering the foundations of financial management. Through a series of interactive simulations and online self-tests, participants develop an intuitive understanding of financial management and new business skills that can be immediately applied in the workplace.
Learning outcomes
Part 1 – The basic rules of accounting
- Master the basic rules of accounting & terminology in financial statements
- Understand the inter-relationships between profits, cash flow and the balance sheet
- Recognise the difference between reporting profits and generating cash flow
Part 2 – Improving commercial judgement
- Understand the key financial decisions needed to launch a new business
- Experience how a business can go bankrupt whilst trading profitably
- Optimise factors such as pricing, quality and marketing spend in a competitive environment
The course
The FMFB course is accompanied by a Cambridge University Press book published in October 2010. It has already helped over 1,000 participants at all stages in their careers, from high school students, entry level accountants and MBA students right through to line managers and C-level business leaders. Participants who complete the course and are successful in the final online assessment receive the CIMA Business Simulation Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Completing the course requires about 20-30 hours and can be achieved in the following ways:
